A woman who survived a small plane crash on Saturday has been rescued after spending six hours in the ocean off the US Virgin Islands.
A Coast Guard helicopter spotted Valerie Jackson in the water six miles south of St Thomas at about 2pm local time, and directed a Virgin Islands Department of Natural Resources boat to her.
According to NBC News, she told her rescuers that another woman and two men had been on the aircraft
Ms Jackson was taken to St Thomas for treatment, and rescuers have so far found no sign of the three other missing people.
Authorities say the plane had been delivering newspapers to the island of St. Croix and was returning to St. Thomas after picking up a couple of passengers.
The Piper was reported overdue at 7:50 am on Saturday, Coast Guard spokesman Ricardo Castrodad, based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, told NBC News.
According to the Daily Mail, Ms Jackson said everyone on board exited the aircraft alive but they all got separated due to the bad weather conditions and high waves.
