Footage of members of staff from an animal sanctuary chasing birds around in an attempt to get them to take their first ever swim has disproved the "taking to it like a duck to water" theory.

One man likens the scene to a Benny Hill episode as the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary staff members attempt to usher around 25 ducks into the water.

According to the Mirror, the animals had been rescued from a property where they were kept in overcrowded pens with no access to water, and are definitely nervous swimmers.

But, before long, and after staff literally resort to throwing them in at the deep end, the ducks seem to love it.
