A Qatar Airlines flight landed safely in Nigeria yesterday, even though one of the tyres had peeled away from the landing gear.

The pilot noticed that there was a problem soon after taking off from Doha, but passengers were unaware that there had been an issue until after the flight landed, just after 1pm local time.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that the Airbus 330 was carrying 148 passengers and 14 crew members.

The pilot noticed that one of the ten tyres on the aircraft had low pressure soon after the plane was airborne, but he did not declare an emergency.

Firefighting equipment and emergency workers stood by for the landing at Lagos's Murtala Muhammed International Airport, but the plane landed without incident and no one was injured.
