An air passenger who got so drunk that he started trying to kiss and grab female passengers had to be restrained using other passengers belts on United Airlines flight.

The Daily Mail reports how Arash Durrani, 26, a male model, had to be tackled and restrained for three hours during the flight from Chicago to Orange County's John Wayne Airport on Tuesday night.

Passengers said they had to tie him down with their belts to stop him from scaring others before the flight landed and he was taken into custody.

FBI spokesman Laura Eimiller said Durrani will be charged with a federal offence for interfering with a flight crew.

Durrani was seen pacing around the plane about 45 minutes into the flight and was grabbing women and harassing people.

Passenger Nona Pitts told news service KTLA: 'He grabbed my hair and lifted my head up and said, "I want to kiss you"'.

When 'unbelievably strong' Durrani started scaring children, passenger David Truong said he and three other travellers took action and physically restrained him with belts.

'I was on his chest and three other guys were holding his arms and legs,' Truong said.

He was restrained for nearly three hours and a doctor on the flight tried to sedate him with valium.

Truong said: 'He would go in and out of consciousness, but every time he came around he would try to fight again.'

IMDb.com lists Durrani as an actor, model and founder of GROW Clothing.
