A new survey has revealed that just 14 per cent of British women sunbathe topless on holiday, like Kate Middleton.

The poll by online travel dating site MissTravel found the main reason why they don't want to sunbathe without their bikini tops is that they are not confident enough about their figures.

Six out of ten of the women questioned said they preferred to keep their bikini top on because they don't feel they have the 'perfect' body.

The findings, published on the Daily Mail, also revealed 54 per cent prefer to stay covered up because they don't want strangers seeing them semi-naked, while 32 per cent said they would not bare their breasts if children were present.

61 per cent of women admitted they would undo their bikini if they were lying on their front to prevent tan lines.

While 14 per cent said they would sunbathe topless in countries like Spain, Italy and France, because of their liberal attitudes to nudity, only six per cent said they would sunbathe fully topless in Britain.

Just two per cent said they would strip off completely on a nudist beach.

1,000 female members of MissTravel were surveyed to find out if they would dare to bare, like the Duchess of Cambridge, who was photographed sunbathing topless while on holiday in France recently and is taking legal action against French magazine Closer, which published the photos.
