The US coast guard is searching for a 21-year-old woman who fell overboard a cruise ship en route to the Bahamas.

According to a statement from Royal Caribbean Cruises, a passenger on the Allure of the Seas reported seeing another passenger go overboard on Sunday night.

Video from cameras on board the ship show the unnamed woman, who is from Tennessee, falling from the ship.

The ship immediately turned round, and crew alerted US and Bahamian Coast Guard officials.

Crew members began a search of the ship and two other ships helped in the search effort until the Coast Guard took control. The Coast Guard currently has a ship, helicopters and aircraft involved in the search. So far about 320 square miles of open water have been searched, but the woman has not been found.

The Allure of the Seas missed its stop in the Bahamas but is scheduled to arrive in St.Thomas, as scheduled, today.

In a statement to ABC News, Royal Caribbean cruises said: "Royal Caribbean's Care Team is providing support to the guest's family and our thoughts and prayers are with them."
