Barcelona FC demand all-female flight crew

Barcelona FC have insisted that their sponsor, Turkish Airlines, provides them with female-only cabin crew because they say that male staff hassle them too much.

According to Turkey's Hurriyet Daily News, male attendants show "extreme interest" in the players, constantly asking for autographs and shirts from popular players like Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta.

As a result, Turkish Airlines has promised Barcelona a handpicked crew of up to 20 female flight attendants to look after players when they are in the air.

Of course, it's debatable whether female crew will be any less interested - but presumably players are more comfortable with the over-zealous attention of a female flight attendant than a male one.

The Daily Mail reports that Turkish Airlines paid over £6million for a two-and-a-half year contract to become the official airline of the club in January 2010.

In the same month, the airline announced a three-and-a-half year contract to be the official sponsor for Manchester United.

Which makes you wonder how Manchester United players cope with all the attention, doesn't it?

So far we haven't heard any complaints...
