A cameraman managed to catch the moment two planes crashed mid-air in the Netherlands on Saturday.

Passenger Eric Donk filmed the two single-engine planes colliding - one was pulling an advert fro the Christian Democrats, and the Cessna was carrying members of the Socialist party.

The banner-carrying plane reportedly came too close to the Cessna, causing the Cessna's landing gear to become embedded in its wing, fusing the two together, according to the Daily Mail.

Both planes start to plummet to the ground, and passengers can be heard shouting in terror in the video footage.

But, luckily, the pilots managed to regain control, and one made an emergency landing on a beach with a damaged wing, while the other made it back to Rotterdam Airport.

Describing the incident as "frightening", Mr Donk told Dutch news channel RTL: "We were some 150 metres above the ground. I could have touched the other plane if I had wanted to."
