Subaru chops £6,000 off the price of WRX STI

The price of the once-iconic Subaru WRX STI (no longer called Impreza WRX, incidentally) has been reduced from £32,995 to £26,995.

The price cut is a response to the new Ford Focus ST, whose starting price is £21,995. An extra 50 PS (the Subaru has 300 PS and the Ford has 250 PS) and 4 wheel drive is worth something, but not an extra £10,000. Subaru says the WRX STI is now "one of the performance car bargains currently available in the UK." We would not go that far, but it is certainly fair value now.
