A 15-year-old British tourist has been hailed a hero after saving a lifeguard at a Dubai waterpark.
Ned Lunnon-Wood was enjoying a day out at the Wild Wadi Waterpark with his dad Mark and brother Jack when the incident occurred.
He was lining up to have a go on the FlowRider surfing simulator on Wednesday when he saw the female lifeguard lose consciousness and fall down the water chute.
He told eturbonews.com: "We were talking to her and she said she felt light-headed and was really hot.
"As I looked around to wait for the thumbs-up for it to be my turn I saw she wasn't there, then I looked and she was sliding down the chute.
"I didn't know if she was messing around for a few seconds, then I realised she wasn't."
Ned, who had completed a first-aid course when he was 10, put his arms under hers and pulled her face out of the water, while lifeguards turned off the water flow.
Soon after, two lifeguards arrived on the scene to administer CPR.
It emerged that the lifeguard, who was not injured, had not eaten that day following dental work.
Katie King, director of communications at the Jumeirah Group which owns Wild Wadi, said: "The lifeguard did not tell her supervisor that she had not eaten. We didn't know about it or she would have been given office work and not placed outside."
She added that she had thanked Ned and that his family "will be treated very well when they return in December".
