Unique Aston Martin DB7 V8 to be auctioned

A unique Aston Martin DB7, fitted by the factory with a 452 bhp engine from a V8 Vantage, is to be sold at the Historics at Brooklands auction on Saturday September 1st.

The Aston Martin DB7 launched with a Jaguar-derived straight six 335 bhp engine, with a 420 bhp V12 added later. One would have thought that was a broad enough choice, but one member of the Saudi Arabian Royal family asked Aston Martin to insert a 6350cc V8 engine under the bonnet. That engine was a racing version of the classic 5.3 litre V8 made since the early 1970s.
