Fiat expands its 500 Abarth performance range

Fiat has expanded its 500 Abarth line-up with the introduction of two new models. The 595 Turismo and 595 Competizione are the more powerful and better equipped siblings to the standard 500 Abarth.

Both 595 models have 160bhp versions of the 500 Abarth's 1.4-litre T-Jet engine, which offers identical performance to the 500 Essesse.
The original Abarth 500 remains as the entry-level model, which has received a £500 price cut. A higher performance Essesse tuning pack continues to be offered by dealers.

Fiat claims that while the Abarth 500 is positioned as an entry point for customers to gain access to the brand, the 595 models will now "allow customers to progress or renew their Abarth experience and will also attract new drivers to the marque".

All three versions are available with manual or semi-automatic transmissions.

The 595 Turismo model costs from £17,775 and includes leather trim and climate control, while the Competizione is priced from £18,975 and features fabric Sabelt seats and a sports exhaust.

"When the ground-breaking Abarth 595 SS was created in 1964 it established itself as a genuine performance car and a force to be reckoned with on and off the circuits," said UK Abarth boss Ivan Gibson. "It is therefore fitting that our two new versions revive the great 595 brand in the form of the Turismo and the Competizione."
