A German tourist has been mauled by a dingo on Fraser Island, off the coast of Queensland in Australia, the AAP reported.
The 23-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital on the mainland after suffering serious injuries to his head, legs and arms but was in a stable condition, Australia's Department of National Parks said.
Regional manager Ross Belcher of the department said the attack happened early on Saturday morning near the K'Gari campground.
The holidaymaker left the well-lit camping site and became disorientated before falling asleep on a track, Mr Belcher said.
He said: 'This incident serves as an ongoing reminder that dingoes are wild animals and need to be treated as such.
'The way to avoid such incidents is for all people to follow the department's dingo safety messages.'
Since the attack, rangers on the island have increased their patrols.
