Kia reveals new Carens MPV shots

Kia has revealed teaser shots of its new Carens MPV which will debut at the Paris Motor Show in September.

On sale in March 2013, the car will be available with both five and seven seats and is expected to have a slightly higher price than the existing Carens model which starts at £14,705.
Up against rivals like the Ford C-Max, Renault Scenic and Peugeot 3008, the new Carens looks to have the front end of the popular Cee'd and the rear end of a Venga.

It's also expected to share some mechanical parts and a similar engine line-up with the Cee'd including the 1.6 petrol and diesel units.

Kia said the theme for the car was 'dynamic space' with a completely fresh, sleek, cab-forward design, lower roofline, longer wheelbase, larger wheels and chrome beltline accent.

It added that the new Carens will 'combine striking looks with spacious functionality and an emotional appeal that has become a standard feature of Kia products'.

The first Kia Carens went on sale in 2000, replaced by a mark II model in 2006. Since then, 377,000 have been sold.

Meanwhile, Kia has made leaps and bounds in the car market over the last decade becoming much more credible, most notably with its VW Golf rival, the Cee'd, but also with the esteemed Sportage crossover. More recently, it has introduced the Optima, a large family saloon.
