A man has been airlifted to hospital after being struck by a rock that fell from a cliff in Cornwall.

The accident happened in the afternoon on Sunday at Porthchapel Beach, near Land's End, according to Falmouth Coastguards.

The man was flown to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro by the Cornwall Air Ambulance, a and the Land's End cliff rescue team was also involved.

According to the BBC, a coastguard spokesman said a large rock fell from the cliff, hit the ground and "bounced" on to the man, causing injuries to his hip and ribs.

Meanwhile, just last month, a teenager was airlifted to hospital after suffering a back injury sustained when she jumped off a cliff on the beach in Cornwall.

The underage teenager allegedly drank a large amount of vodka at a beach party before jumping off the cliff at the Towans in Hayle.
