Fancy a beach pad and got £395,000 in spare change? Carol Smillie's holiday beach house could be yours.
Carol, who shot to fame as the host of Changing Rooms, did her own makeover on the property, which is situated in private grounds near the village of Maidens, two miles from the famous Turnberry golf course on the south west coast of Scotland.
The former TV star she and restaurateur husband, Alex Knight, bought the property so their three kids could enjoy growing up the old-fashioned way, "playing on the beach, having the wind in their hair, not sitting in front of a computer".
But, now aged between 12 and 17, she admits: "Now they're the age when they'd rather go to parties."
The family have visited the property once a month for the past 13 years, and say "it's the perfect place for getting away from it all", adding: "The location has kept its basic old-fashioned quality.
There's no fish and chip shop, no amusement arcade, just the beach and the sea."
The property was built in the 1870s as a lifeguard station and has four bedrooms, plus a large open-plan living area and a big decking area overlooking the beach.
The family are now concentrating on Alex's three eateries in St Andrews and one in Stirling, and say it's time to move on.
Carol said: "It's the end of an era, whether we like it or not. The house needs to be loved by another family, just as it's been loved by ours."
But don't feel too bad, they already have a detached Victorian house in Glasgow and a holiday home in the Algarve, Portugal.
