Forecasters predict that the wet and windy weather will continue for at least the first week of the Olympic Games.

The Daily Mail reports that the Met Office has released a new 30-day forecast, which warns of wet weather right into August.

For the period between July 22 and August 5, the forecast states: "A protracted spell of hot, sunny weather looks very unlikely. In fact the inclement weather that has characterised June and early July will probably still be in evidence although early conditions are unlikely to be as bad."

The Express has also warned that Britain is facing it's "worst ever" summer.

Jonathan Powell, forecaster for Vantage Weather Services, told The Express: "There is no settled fine weather on the horizon and August looks as doomed as July. It is a bitterly disappointing summer and already set to be in the top five wettest on record.

"The first couple of days of the Olympics are likely to be very wet indeed, and the rest of the Games unsettled."

William Hill has now cut the odds on rain falling during the Games opening ceremony from 4/1 to 1/1.
