Over 160,000 parents who are no longer living with their children will have to pay double the child maintenance they have been under new proposals today. The change will affect unemployed parents living away from the family home. In the past, regardless of how many children they have, they have only had to fork out £5 a week to be split between them. Now they'll have to pay £10.

It's part of a wide-ranging reform of child maintenance, so what will happen?
