Part of the Butlins holiday camp in Bognor Regis had to be evacuated today after an arson attack in the park's nightclub.

Firefighters from the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS) had to be called out to the holiday resort at around 1.45am on Monday to tackle a fire that was started "deliberately" in the female toilets.

According to the BBC, Butlins Bognor Regis said in a statement: "There was a small fire in a cubicle in the women's toilet which a member of staff attempted to extinguish.

"The alarm was sounded immediately on discovery of the fire and the building evacuated as per procedure."

The news comes just two months after seven men from north Kent were charged over a brawl at the same holiday park.

When police were called to the Bognor Regis resort last November, they arrested 13 people, and the fight left six people needing hospital treatment.

In May 2012, the men were charged with a mix of different offences, including common assault, causing grievous bodily harm, causing actual bodily harm, and possession of cocaine.
