Es Caragol/Conselleria de Turisme/Jaume Capella

For many Brits, Mallorca is all about hotel pools and 24-hour night clubs. But the island has a wonderfully peaceful, wild side that many holidaymakers never see. Even in peak summer, if you travel a little further than the popular hotspots like Palma and Alcudia, you'll get beautiful stretches of coastline all to yourself.

We've picked three of our fave remote beaches - perfect for lovers of proper peace and quiet - and asked Mallorca Farmhouses to help with the best accommodation nearby.

Es Caragol (above) is a long 500m stretch of unspoilt white sand, backed by sand dunes. Calm, warm waters in various shades of turquoise trim the shoreline and it's a haven for lovers of peace and quiet, even in mid summer, mainly because it's a good 30-minute walk from the nearest car park. There are no beach cafes or facilities - so pack a picnic and plenty of water.
Where to stay:Aljup de Son Amer, a one-bedroom cottage on the outskirts of the little village of Es Lllombards, south of Santanyi. From £578, sleeps two.

Es Carbo/Conselleria de Turisme/Jaume Capella

Es Carbo has a long, wide expanse of powdery white sand and sits on a pretty, protected bay with calm seas. Again, there are no facilities here - just wild nature and Mallorca at its best.
Where to stay:Finca Angoixes, a six-bedroom restored farmhouse on the outskirts of the traditional village of Cas Concos. From £747, sleeps 12.

Cala Tuent/Conselleria de Turisme/Eduardo Miralles

Cala Tuent is a crescent of sand and shingle in a dramatic setting surrounded by mountains and thick pine woods. The nearby rocks mean it's perfect for private snorkelling, and the remote location ensures plenty of space. There's a restaurant up the hill which can be reached by car offering traditional Spanish dishes and excellent views.
Where to stay:Ca'n Picassa, a remote three-bedroom farmhouse tucked away in the Pollenca Hills. from £828, sleeps seven.
