Woman drops trousers on Subway train after giant rat runs up leg

A New York hotel supervisor was forced to drop her trousers on a busy Subway train after a giant rat ran up her leg.
Ana Vargas, 40, was on a train coming into the Columbus Circle station at around 7.50am on Friday when the brazen rodent lunged.
She told the NY Daily News:"I thought it was my pants moving. It just crawled up my leg. I shook it and nothing came out.
"I said, 'Oh, my God - it's an animal on my leg!' He was very big. I was shaking, but nothing was coming out . . . I had to pull my pants down in front of everyone on the train."
But Ana soon realised the animal wasn't looking for somewhere cosy to snooze, it was actually attacking her.
She added: "I grabbed his head, because he was scratching me. I didn't want it to bite."
Ana's modesty was protected by three men who tried to ensure she didn't flash the rest of the passengers.
When the train came to a stop, Ana dropped the rat and ran to the platform for help.
Ana, a supervisor at the Doubletree by Hilton hotel, was taken to the Roosevelt Hospital where she was treated for scratches to her leg and thigh, which she said were "burning".
She was given a Tetanus shot and returned to work. The rat, meanwhile, was not found after the incident, which has now made Ms Vargas anxious about using the Subway.
