A British woman is in a critical condition after falling from her hotel room balcony following an argument with her mother.

The Mail reports that Chantelle Serginson, 24, fell from the sixth floor after an argument with her mother, Kimberley.

She suffered multiple head and leg fractures and is fighting for her life in hospital.

Chantelle from Middlesbrough was on holiday with in Magaluf with her mother and 15-year-old sister, Jessica.

The incident happened at the Hotel Marina Barracuda at about 6pm on Friday.

A source at the Civil Guard police said: "We are treating this as a tragic accident.

"Witnesses have told us that Chantelle was rowing with her mother in the hotel room.

"She went out on to the balcony and for some reason climbed up on the railing.

"We believe she lost her balance and fell, landing on a first floor balcony below.

"We do not believe that she threw herself off intentionally."

This incident is the latest in a line of tragedies to hit the family. Six years ago Kimberley had her throat slashed in front of her daughter during a knife attack at her home. Almost 14 years ago her seven-year-old daughter Katie died of a brain tumour.

Three Britons have fallen to their deaths from hotels in Magaluf in the last six weeks.
