A new Which? survey has named Trailfinders the best holiday company of 2012.

Trailfinders topped a list of 26 holiday providers based on 3,500 holiday experiences, and garnered an impressive 97%.

Criteria for the poll included ratings on customer service, accommodation, tours and value for money.

All of the companies in the top ten received at least an 85% customer score, and the top five were in close competition.

Activity specialists HF Holidays and Inntravel came in joint second with 94%, Audley Trravel gained a respectable 93% and Exodus received 90%.

Lorna Cowan, Editor of Which? Travel said: "The travel industry has faced some turbulent times in recent years so we were thrilled to see so many companies performing well in our survey and delivering the high standards of customer service holidaymakers expect."

But at the other end of the scale there was room for improvement, with Newmarket Holidays (57%) propping up the table, and Thomas Cook (60%), and Shearings Holidays (62%) also receiving below average customer scores.
