The Fat Duck might have dropped out of the top 10 to number 13, but Heston Blumenthal will be celebrating after two of his restaurants haven been named in the World's 50 Best Restaurants list.

His new establishment, Dinner, based at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge, was the highest new entry at ninth place, and the top ranking UK restaurant.

The Ledbury in Notting Hill, run by Australian chef Brett Graham, also made it into the top 15.

The results of the annual survey by Restaurant Magazine were announced in London on Monday night.

The survey has now been running for 10 years, and is based on the opinions of 800 international food experts, including chefs, journalists, restaurateurs.

For the third year running, Noma in Copenhagen was named the best restaurant in the world, where chef Rene Redzepi serves up seasonal and local delights like sea urchin and dill.

Spain had the biggest number of restaurants in the top 10, with El Celler de Can Roca in Girona at number two, Mugaritz in San Sebastian at three, and Arzak in San Sebastian at number eight, with Elena Arzak also winning the award for Best Female Chef.
