The retirement warning from Britain's dole queues

As I've written before, it's difficult to escape the conclusion that many people face a poverty-stricken retirement. Falling annuity rates, longer life-spans, rapidly diminishing final salary schemes, shrinking pension growth rates -- wherever you look, there's bad news.

The obvious conclusion? Save earlier for retirement, save more for retirement, and place those savings in investments that will provide the best possible post-retirement income.
