Five injured soldiers with amputated limbs, horrific burns and gunshot wounds are planning to climb Everest next month.

The Walking with the Wounded team includes private Jaco Van Gass (pictured in training, above) who lost his left arm in a rocket blast in Afghanistan, and captain David Wiseman (pictured below) who was shot in the chest during a battle with the Taliban.

The team has performed so well in training that they will be treated no differently from able-bodied climbers.
