Passengers are being warned to check their travel arrangements after a general strike in Spain has forced airlines to cancel hundreds of flights.

The Foreign Office is warning that the strike by Spain's two largest trade unions over austerity cuts and changes to labour laws will bring the country to a "near standstill", according to Travel Mole.

Spain's national carrier Iberia has cancelled more than 200 flights
, including some service between London and Madrid tomorrow. Passengers can apply for refunds up to 15 April, or transfer to an alternative flight.

According to the Telegraph, Easyjet has scrapped 28 flights, including two from Gatwick to Barcelona and one from Gatwick to Madrid.

Ryanair has cancelled 44 flights, including those from Liverpool to Ibiza, Barcelona and Palma, and Luton to Reus.
