Set in 400 acres of park and woodland near Keswick, the four-star Armathwaite Hall overlooks Lake Bassenthwaite. The newly built spa has an infinity pool and outdoor hot tub overlooking the grounds and treatments from a luxury Italian skincare house. One night costs from £270 per double including a two-course dinner, full Cumbrian breakfast, one 60-minute treatment per person and full use of the spa’s facilities.

The state-of the art rooftop Ayush Wellness Spa at the four-star Hotel de France in Jersey has a team of Ayurvedic experts from both India and the West to soothe and pamper, combining holistic therapies with luxury treatments. A two- night Spring Detox available throughout April and May costs from £305 per double B&B including a consultation with a qualified Ayurvedic physician, healthy lunch and two one-hour detoxing treatments.  

The Macdonald Marine Hotel and Spa in North Berwick on the east coast of Scotland is renowned for its Victorian architecture, with high ceilings and large windows (some have sea views). The award-winning thermal spa with pool offers treatments such as the newly launched signature Decleor Paradise Escape body treatment. A one-night package from £150pp B&B including a healthy light lunch, 30-minute spa treatment (choose from a back, neck & shoulders massage or a facial), £30 dinner allowance per person, a bottle of house wine and chocolates in your room.

Set on the outskirts of the picturesque Malvern Hills in Worcestershire, The Malvern Spa is a multi-million-pound development with indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pools fed by the world famous Malvern Spring waters. Chocoholic Spa Day from £69pp with full use of the spa facilities, a light lunch, a chocolate back massage and a rich and creamy hot chocolate drink with marshmallows. 

Deep within the Yorkshire Pennines, the Titanic Spa is a restored textile mill turned eco-spa, with state-of-the-art health and wellbeing facilities. Famed for its green credentials, the spa’s eco efforts  include solar power and recycling water. Book a Simply Spa one-night package from £109pp (Sunday-Thursday) in a luxury serviced apartment, with breakfast a light lunch, a two-course evening meal and full use of the spas facilities including the Titanic Heat and Ice experience. Friday - Saturday, £139pp. 

In picturesque coastal Essex, five minutes from the seaside town of Frinton, the Lifehouse Spa is set in 135 acres of park and woodland. A one-night Lifehouse in Bloom package costs from £189pp B&B including a 45-minute tour of the historic gardens and afternoon tea, spa treatment such as Footlogix from £31. Minimum two-night stay, Sunday to Thursday before August 23 2012. 

The Antara Spa at The Chelsea Club day spa - part of the posh Stamford Bridge stadium complex - offers a range of holistic treatments including European, Oriental and Ayurvedic - and innovative classes such as Zero Gravity Yoga. From £99pp for a 90-minute Abhyangam (hot oil full body massage) with an Indian head massage.

The award-winning five-star Blythswood Square hotel in Glasgow, in the old RAC building, has a new spa containing the UK’s first indigenous Scottish seaweed treatments designed in conjunction with organic skincare house, ila. A one-night Blythswood Spa Escape package costs from £130 per person including full Scottish breakfast, a one-hour spa treatment on the day of arrival and unlimited use of the Spa Thermal Experiences.

Bluestone's holiday village in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park boasts views of the surrounding Preseli Hills and a fab spa with traditional brick sauna, marine sauna, salt steam room, herbal steam room, ice pod, dry salt room, feature showers, wet jets and 15 treatment rooms with treatments by Murad, Terrake and ESPA. Bluestone offers breaks from £99 per night for a studio, based on two people sharing. Spa treatments from £25 and entry to the thermal suites costs £15.

The four-star Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa, just across the Shropshire border in Powys, has a spa with a beautiful lakeside view. It offers a range of organic Pevonia Botanica treatments, a dry sauna, a salt steam room, a Rasul mud room, an ice fountain, monsoon and fragrant mist showers together with tepidarium day couches. A one-night mid-week Sparkling Spa Package costs from £153pp B&B with a five-course dinner, use of the spa and thermal suite, a Rasul mud therapy treatment for two, a 20-minute back massage and champagne on arrival.
