Four out of ten shops could close

Julia Kollewe

In ten years' time shopping could be a very different experience from what it is now. Rather than heading to the shops, you may do most of your shopping whilst on the move using your mobile phone, or from the safety of your couch while you're surfing the web.

The high street could become a place to have coffee and pick up your pre-ordered shopping - or order stuff online from an internet kiosk for home delivery. At least that's the picture painted by experts, who believe there won't be many traditional shops left and the high street will be populated by coffee shops, internet kiosks and collection hubs instead.
