Asda's Union Jack packaging dispute

Asda has warned suppliers not to fly the Union Jack on all their packaging to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee and London Olympics this year, amid fears it may offend customers in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Rather than celebrating the momentous British events as a nation, the supermarket indicated that it wants undecorated packaging for its Scottish and Northern Irish stores, before backtracking on its stance last night.
