Seat cuts price of facelifted Ibiza

The Seat Ibiza has received a mild facelift, mostly involving a sharper front end.

However, the big news is that some models have had their prices cut by £300, with some sporty versions up to £1,100 cheaper. The range starts with the 1.2-litre 60 PS E in three-door SC body style at an unchanged £9,995.

Above the E comes the S A/C (air conditioning) which is an average of £300 less than the outgoing S Copa editions. The most affordable Ibiza 5dr is thus the 1.2 70 PS S at £11,430. This engine is also now available in the Ibiza ST body style, giving it a reduced starting price of £12,140.

The same price cut applies to the SE range compared to the outgoing SE Copa. Meanwhile the FR trim is now available with the lower-priced 105 PS engine, with the FR 150 PS petrol and the 2.0 TDI up to £1,100 cheaper than before.

Seat is trying very hard to become more competitive. Unlike the rest of the Volkswagen Group, it is still losing money, while Skoda, for example, powers ahead. It needs to increase sales, as its global total of 350,000 is not enough to make it viable. Hence the price cuts in the UK, which can only be good news for us consumers.
