Rail 'smart cards' to go nationwide

Rail passengers will be able to use "smart cards" across the country under new Government plans.

Transport Secretary Justine Greening said train travellers will benefit from the new ticketing system - similar to the Oyster card used by commuters in London - and also proposed longer franchises for train companies to boost investment.
