Geneva Motor Show: Kia Cee'd

Updated

Kia has unveiled the second-generation Cee'd at Geneva. The original model was Kia's breakthrough car, turning the Korean company from purveyors of cheap hatchbacks into a mainstream competitor.

The second generation model is evolutionary, on the principle that it was not broken, so there is no point fixing it. However, it does look like a worthwhile step forward. The exterior design makes it look more sophisticated and shows how far Kia has come in recent years. It looks confident – there are none of the design flourishes that tried (and failed) to make Korean cars look interesting a decade ago. Instead there is a modern design that is the equal of any mainstream European competitor.
