Iceland's former PM on trial for Icesave collapse

Iceland's former prime minister Geir Haarde has gone on trial today accused of negiglence over the Icelandic banking collapse in 2008.

Haarde is the first senior politician to be prosecuted over events linked to the global financial crisis, and claims he is a victim of "political persecution".
