Exclusive pictures: Range Rover Evoque Convertible spotted

Range Rover Evoque Convertible
At the tail end of last week, Land Rover announced that it was bringing a convertible version of the Range Rover Evoque to the Geneva Motor Show. These exclusive pictures show the car on the road for the first time.

The car, which is still a concept (for now), features the same interior trim and toys as the Coupé model but now comes with a slightly bigger sunroof option. Those worried about having a convertible with such a high centre of gravity can rest easy – if things do go a little 'flippy' it's got a jazzy roll over protection system.Range Rover Evoque Convertible
Land Rover design director Gerry McGovern commented on the car: "The Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible. This study is not a traditional convertible design execution - instead we have worked with the balance of the Evoque's lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable."

Outside of a photoshop friendly studio and in the wilds of London's Shad Thames the Evoque Convertible cuts a fine figure. While the idea of a convertible SUV isn't new (Suzuki X-90 and Nissan Murano CorssCabriolet, anyone?), the Evoque ragtop might just be the first that doesn't conjure up a little bit of sick when you see one.

What do you think? Would you buy one?

We'll know more about it at next month's Geneva Motor Show.
