Rinspeed Dock+Go isn't as silly as we first thought

Updated

We'll be the first to admit that we thought the Rinspeed Dock+Go was a mad idea, madder than Rinspeed's usual fare. Still, it wouldn't be a Geneva Motor Show without the madcap Swiss brand being represented in one form or another.

The Dock+Go is based on the Smart EV and allows up to two 'backpack' units to be docked onto the back. Cleverly, each attachment has batteries and a motor, so while you're driving you can charge the batteries in one attachment while using another's grunt then switch when you need to – essentially giving a 'leccy Smart all the range you could ever need. It's called a Variohybrid and it's rather clever.
