Up to 80 chasing each job vacancy

Job CentreAlmost 80 unemployed people are chasing every job vacancy in parts of the country, compared with just one in cities where more work is available, new research shows.
Aberdeen was found to be the best city to find a job, with around one unemployment claimant per vacancy, compared with around 80 in Hull, said job search website Adzuna.
Reading, Cambridge, London and Milton Keynes all had fewer than two claimants per vacancy, while other areas with high ratios included Stoke-on-Trent (73), Sunderland (53), Southend (44) and the Wirral (40).
Engineering, computing and sales and marketing are showing the strongest demand for jobs nationally, while London is the top city for the recruitment of estate agents and secretaries, the study showed.
One in three jobs being advertised in Hull are in the healthcare sector, according to the study of official data.
Andrew Hunter, of Adzuna, said: "Policymakers should take note of where the jobs are being created and make sure that people are being trained in the right skills in the right locations."
