Rumour mill: Audi to launch A1 convertible?
Rumours are creeping out all over the web that Audi may be set to launch another derivation of the A1.
Still revelling in the successful launch of the five-door A1 Sportback, it's no surprise that Audi may be looking forward to extending the line up, but is a convertible model really on its way?Looking at the cars it shares a platform with it's easy to see that there's no precident set. There's space for an A1 Avant, thanks to the Skoda Fabia vRS and SEAT Ibiza ST, but there's not been a convertible Fabia, Ibiza or Polo even suggested by Audi's sister brands.
Why would Audi do it? Well, it's a simple reason – it's possible. The MINI Convertible and Fiat 500C are wildly popular cars, why shouldn't Audi have a slice of that market? It's already proven that its modern take on the premium supermini sector can be a success, why not take on the (admittedly niche) diddy convertible sector?
We've asked Audi for a comment and shall update you as we find out more.
