A BA air steward has been arrested for allegedly writing a bomb threat on a lavatory door mid-flight.

Matthew Davis, 22, allegedly penned: "The bomb on board will explode at 16.00 GMT unless our demands are met", on the plane's loo door at 35,000ft.

The flight from Tokyo to London was carrying 150 passengers, and landed safely at Heathrow on Sunday, according toThe Sun.

Mr Davis was arrested and charged the following day with communicating a bomb threat, although no explosives were found after a search.

A Scotland Yard spokesman told the Telegraph: "Mathew Davis, 22, from Crawley, was charged on Monday February 13 with communicating a bomb threat.

"He will appear at Uxbridge magistrates' court on Tuesday February 28."

He is also thought to have been suspended from his job at British Airways.
