Get yourself a Chevrolet Camaro this year
If you're a child, a dad or simply love to watch things go 'boom' you'll know that the new Chevrolet Camaro isn't just a car, it's a Transformer called Bumblebee. Not only is it a very muscley muscle car, but a 20-foot tall killing machine from the planet Cybertron.
It's been out in the US for a number of years now but Chevrolet has decided to bring the Camaro to the UK this year to show us what all the Stateside fuss has been about. We'll be getting one engine – the 6.2-litre V8 LS3 – which comes with two power outputs, depending on which gearbox you choose. Manual cars get 426 bhp, while the £1,500 optional auto 'boxed cars get 'only' 399 bhp. Manual cars hit 62mph in just 5.2 seconds while the auto option makes the dash in a mere 5.6.
Both cars will top out at 155mph thanks to a limiter.
Show offs will like the convertible version, whereas men with bald spots and Transformers purists will go for the coupé. Probably in yellow with a black stripe over the middle...
Prices for the standard models start at £34,000 for the coupé and £39,995 for the convertible, which is rather cheap for a 426bhp muscle car.
For a short time after launch, Chevrolet will be offering the special edition 45th anniversary Camaro. It comes painted in Carbon Flash Black and gets a pair of red and silver stripes over its body as well as 20-inch alloys and some rather fine interior styling tweaks.
The order books are open now for deliveries in the Spring.
