Dedicated followers of fashion: Butlins goes Gaga
An up and coming British designer has given Butlins Redcoat uniforms a radical revamp.
Hannah Clayton, 25, has designed for Lady Gaga, and been targeted as 'one to watch' by Italian Vogue.
She showcased the new look herself - along with a male model - in London's Covent Garden, and revealed the new uniform includes a pair of power platforms that Lady Gaga herself would be proud of, as well as a fashionable boyfriend-style blazer.
The trendy design was created after Hannah spent time at the British holiday resorts, gleaning what staff were looking for.
The Grimsby-born designer, who graduated from the University of Westminster two years ago, said: "Having spent time with the Redcoats in Bognor Regis, I was able to fully understand the importance of their role, the physical demands of the job, and how essential it is that they look and feel the part.
"The most significant changes can be seen in the casual outfits, which adopt a fresh sporty style with a baseball jacket, long sleeved t-shirts, trousers and red baseball boots. The female Redcoats highlighted the desire to feel more feminine - therefore for the first time a dress has been introduced."
Butlins spokeswoman Jackie Martin told Aol Travel: "The Butlins Redcoats are world famous and we felt that Hannah really understood the importance of maintaining some of the uniform's iconic attributes, while bringing them bang up to date in terms of style."
The designer follows in the hallowed footsteps of other British designers like Jeff Banks and Zandra Rhodes in giving the Redcoats uniforms a makeover.
