Pick of the early market news

The FTSE-100 soared 1.92% yesterday, finishing the day at 5,790 points as investors were cheered on by better global manufacturing figures. Biggest gainers were Schroders (8.69% up), ICAP (+7.74%) and Barclays (+5.43%). In contrast, ARM Holdings (-2.79%) and BSkyB (-1.16%) fell. The German Dax also leapt strongly (up 2.44%) while the Dow Jones finished Wednesday 0.66% up at 12,716.
