German economy powers jobs boost

While much of Southern Europe battles against surging unemployment - particularly youth unemployment - Germany is enjoying a jobs boom, despite seasonal winter pressures.

German unemployment slipped 6.7% last month (January). The news brings little cheer to yet another failed EU summit meeting. Yet the German jobs picture is fragmented.
