Police borrow fast Golf then total it
The R is the fastest version of the current Volkswagen Golf on sale, with 155mph top speed and 62mph acceleration in just 5.7 seconds.
So it should make the perfect unmarked Police car you might think? Well maybe not, as the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) force have red faces, after one of its officers managed to write off one during a test drive.
Details of the accident haven't been released, but after looking at the picture, the officer must have been travelling at speed and rolled the car.
Thankfully, no other vehicles were involved in the crash and the officer was taken to hospital with a back injury.
However, it does raise questions about police officers test driving cars and the GMP are considering making changes to its driving policy.
The officer involved in this accident has since made a full recovery, but has not resumed driving duties as he is suspended while an investigation takes place.
