New three-door Kia Rio available to order
For the first time ever the Kia Rio is available with two less doors. The three-door car is available to order now.
Kia, thoughtfully, has realized that as you're getting less car you should pay less – it's £600 pound cheaper than the five-door model.
It shares its engine line up with the five-door Rio, which means it gets two petrol and two diesel powerplants. Its diesel engines, a 1.1 and 1.4-litre unit offer 74bhp and 89bhp respectively, while both managing over 70mpg. An impressive feat. The 1.1-litre model only emits 99g/km CO2, too.
Petrol fans are treated to a 1.25 and 1.4-litre engine line up. Both offer reasonable power and breach the 50mpg barrier. For auto-only drivers the 1.4-litre engine comes with a slushbox and manages 44.1mpg.
There are a number of trim levels available: 1, 1 Air, 2 and 3. Each one, funnily enough is incrementally better than the last. There's plenty of standard kit so we'll give you the highlights – USB and AUX ports, Bluetooth and 'leccy windows.
To get air con you'll have to choose either 1 Air, 2 or three – basic 1 drivers will have to pant like hot dogs in the summer. Or drive with the windows open...
Safety is key in the Rio and it comes with all manner of electro trickery to stop it from falling off the road – ESC, EBD, EBA and ESS are all standard.
Prices start at £9,995 for a 1.25-litre petrol 1-spec car.
