An Australian tourist is lucky to be alive after her bungee jump rope snapped over the crocodile-infested Zambezi River in Africa. SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO.

Erin Laungworth fell 111 metres from the Victoria Falls bridge on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia on New Year's Eve when she did a jump with Safari Par Excellency.

The 22-year-old miraculously survived the impact - but then had to face swimming through crocodile-infested waters and nearby rapids.

Speaking about her terrifying experience she said: "I landed with my legs tied and then had to swim to the Zimbabwe side [of the river] through the rapid.

"It was quite scary because a couple of times the rope actually got caught on some rocks or debris.

"I actually had to swim down and yank the bungee cord out of whatever it was caught on to make it to the surface."

Ms Laungworth was treated at Victoria Falls clinic in Zimbabwe, where staff were amazed she had only suffered cuts and bruises, before being taken to South Africa.
