At this time of year we're all on a new year's health kick and are busily emptying the supermarkets of fruit and vegetables. In a couple of weeks most of us will have a fridge full of rotten food, a bin full of takeaway wrappers, and will be wondering how on earth we managed to waste so much money on something that went off so quickly.

Unless, of course, we bought food in Marks & Spencer's fancy new age-defying packaging.
