Insurers braced for claims deluge

Insurers were bracing themselves for a deluge of claims after Britain was battered by high winds and torrential rain.

As the weather wreaked havoc - stopping trains, toppling vehicles, damaging property and closing the Port of Dover - insurers prepared to deal with claims for flooding damage to homes, businesses and cars.
