P&O's cruise ship Oriana has rebranded itself as an adult-only cruise ship following a multi-million pound refurbishment.

With the addition of 27 new cabins and a restaurant operated by celebrity chef Marco Pierre White, the fleet has a fresh new look.

Other features installed during the renovation include a new aft deck with bar, and the addition of an Italian restaurant, Sorrento, which will have an outdoor dining area.

The Oriana is currently on a 17-night cruise in the Western Mediterranean for Christmas and the New Year. After it returns, it will depart on January 5 for a 97-night world cruise.

A P&O Cruises spokesperson told Aol Travel: "When we retired the adults-only ship Artemis from our fleet in May this year, the number of holidays exclusively for adults available within the P&O Cruises programme was effectively reduced as Adonia, her replacement, is a smaller ship. We therefore wished to add a third ship to offer this type of holiday.

"We feel we can do this as Azura, the most recent ship to be added to our fleet provides additional holidays for families. P&O Cruises has seven ships in the fleet and four continue to welcome families (Aurora, Azura, Oceana and Ventura) and three, (Adonia, Arcadia and Oriana) are exclusively for adults. We are totally committed to satisfying the holiday needs of both families and those travelling without children."

The revamp comes as the company also announced the launch of two Strictly Come Dancing cruises, where you can join the stars of the show next summer on two P&O Cruises holidays.

P&O Cruises will have top names from the hit BBC show on two Oriana cruises – a 12 night Canary Islands cruise on May 28 and a 14-night Fjords cruise on July 14. Passengers can learn how to jive, foxtrot, rumba, quickstep and more from the professionals and join acerbic judge Craig Revel Horwood for a night in the theatre.

As some of Strictly Come Dancing's most loved professionals show off their award-winning routines, passengers will also be able to see a collection of the exquisitely intricate costumes worn by the celebrities and stars this series.

P&O Cruises managing director, Carol Marlow said: "We are so excited to bring the magic of the Strictly ballroom to Oriana this summer. Our passengers will be able to learn with the professional dancers, watch extraordinary show dances and hear some of the secrets of this global phenomenon."
