Thief stole £10,000 worth of goodies from first class flights

A passenger who stole up to £10,000 of plates, napkins and cutlery while travelling on various first class flights for three years has been arrested.

The thief, believed to based in Canada, has spent the past 36 months travelling first class on Air France and other airlines and stashing away goods including glasses, cups and blankets. He then sold these on the internet.

Air France eventually got wise to his antics and alerted authorities, who were able to trace his transactions via his IP address.

They then swooped on the 28-year old when he landed on the Indian Ocean island resort of Reunion, where he was discovered with more stolen airline goods in his baggage.

He is alleged to have made £10,000 by selling the pilfered goods online.

The news comes just a day after hotel chain Best Western released a list of some of the bizarre things that have been stolen from their accommodation.

This includes a leather two-piece suite, a set of curtains and an entire suit of armour.
